Judge’s comment: “An aromatic, thick and velvety textured soup. The aroma and flavour of tomatoes shines brightly, boosted by the basil, which plays a gentle second fiddle to the tomato. There’s a slight sourness to the flavour, but we’re glad no sugar has been added to mask this; we’d enjoy a touch more salinity but can easily add that ourselves. What is particularly pleasing is the ‘clean’ taste and finish, nothing is cloying and it’s easy, even tempting, to reach for another spoonful.”
